Taek Gi Lee, from Seoul, entered the Curtis Institute of Music in 2018 and studies piano with Robert McDonald. All students at Curtis receive merit-based, full-tuition scholarships, and Mr. Lee is the Yvonne K. Druian Fellow.

Mr. Lee gave his recital debut at age 13 on the Kumho Prodigy Concert Series. He went on to win prizes at several international competitions including the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Musicians, Val Tidone International Piano Competition, Toronto International Music Competition, and Seoul International Music Competition. In 2014, he won the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition and made his European debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Lee has performed in venues including London’s Fairfield Halls, New York’s Lincoln Center, the Seoul Arts Center, and Harris Concert Hall at Aspen. 

Mr. Lee began playing the piano at age six, and his past teachers have included Choong-Mo Kang and Ma-ri Kwon. He previously attended the Juilliard School.
