IDA Y VUELTA
Ida y Vuelta’s lively presentations come from a long tradition of Mexican folk music called son jarocho. The genre is a fusion of African, Spanish-Arabic and Indigenous music and poetry. The all-acoustic instrumentation is native to the Sotavento region, it includes harp, jaranas (guitars) donkey jaw (percussion) and zapateado (foot taping) percussive dancing.

MICHAEL SALTER JAZZ QUINTET
Let your students learn all about Jazz! In this spectacular program, the Michael Salter Quintet (consisting of drums, bass, piano, trumpet and tenor saxophone) stimulates your students’ minds as they come together to explore music ranging from Duke Ellington to more complex original compositions. There is a Q&A segment as well as discussions on the instruments and composers being performed. Your students will walk away with new knowledge and appreciation of Jazz, and of all music.

DRUM TALK ENSEMBLE
Committed to education in the belief that any drumming, by nature, evokes communication, ‘Drum Talk’ rummers trade rhythms, overlay beats, and create thick percussive textures that inspire and inform a new communicative experience. This ‘Drum Talk’ experience that goes from exhilarating to enchanting, and from meditative sounds to dancelike rhythms, is a celebration of our united spirits. The program interweaves music, folklore, history, and geography in a very entertaining, educational, and accessible presentation. Some of the drums and music represented in the program include Cuban, West African, Arab, Indian, Brazilian, and American Jazz and Blues.
